Policy & Advocacy
We believe that every child, family, and community in Kentucky thrives when fathers are supported, valued, and included. Our advocacy centers on building systems that recognize fathers as essential partners in family well-being. Through existing and emerging partnerships with state agencies, local governments, community leaders, political representatives, judges, attorneys, and policymakers, CCFF works to advocate for father-inclusive practices and policies that strengthen Kentucky families. Some of the policies that we advocate for include:
1. Father-Inclusive Services and Systems
Kentucky’s family and social service systems should engage both parents equitably. CCFF advocates for state agencies and programs to include fathers in all aspects of family engagement, ensuring fathers are recognized as vital to their children’s growth and success.

2. Economic Stability and Child Support
We believe fathers want to provide for their families but often face barriers to stable employment and fair support structures. CCFF supports policies that promote employment, job training, and responsible fatherhood participation over punitive measures, helping fathers stay active, employed, and involved in their children’s lives.

3. Reentry, Recovery, and Family Reunification
Fathers returning home from incarceration and/or recovery communities deserve the opportunity to rebuild family connections. CCFF advocates for reentry and recovery programs that prioritize fatherhood readiness, expand family visitation and parenting education inside facilities, and remove employment barriers for returning citizens.

4. Child Welfare and Family Preservation
Fathers should be included in child welfare processes. CCFF supports policies that require father identification and engagement at every stage of child welfare involvement, promote shared parenting, and prioritize family reunification whenever safely possible.

5. Early Childhood and Education Engagement
CCFF advocates for early childhood and education systems that actively include and engage fathers as essential partners in their children’s learning and development.
